A Glasgow-based Daytime Music & Entertainment company was celebrating on Monday night at Scotland’s wedding Oscars – the VOWS Awards 2012.

The company was named top in its category at the event, which took place alongside more than six hundred of its Scottish wedding industry peers at Hilton Glasgow.

VOWS stands for Voted Outstanding Wedding Supplier of the year and is a celebration of businesses in the Scottish wedding industry which have been nominated for the awards by happy newlyweds for exceptional levels of service. Now in its eighth year, the VOWS Awards 2012 attracted more than 13,000 nominations and 100 Scottish wedding companies made the shortlist.

Speaking at the event on Monday night, Alan of Apollo String Quartet was delighted with the win. This is the second time Apollo String Quartet has been nominated for a VOWS award.

Alan said: “We feel amazing about winning. This is our first award! We were nominated last year too. We’d like to thank everyone in the quartet and everyone who nominated us.”

Monday night’s 80s-themed awards ceremony was hosted by TV personality Keith Chegwin and featured 20 award categories, including the Vows Industry Award won this year by 21cc Fireworks.

Stewart Roxburgh at Scottish Enterprise was part of the five-strong judging panel, which also included representatives from VisitScotland and Bridal Buyer magazine. He was impressed by the high standards of entries this year.

He said: “In these times when personal referral is everything, it is absolutely essential that the industry responds with creativity and professionalism that not only reflects on our individual brands but on the entire industry in Scotland.”
